Welcome to our tour of Fazana, situated on the south west coast of Istria in Croatia.

Fazana is located on the south-west coast of Istria in Croatia.
Pula is approximately 7km from Fazana.
Access to the motorway (E751) is 8km.

A few facts about Fazana to start:
Fazana is the main ferry point for Brijuni which is a National Park and once the summer residence of Josip Tito, former president of Yugoslavia.
Fazana was well known for wine and olive oil production in Roman times.
It was also a major centre for the production of amphorae. These are the pottery storage jars with with two vertical handles and principally used for transportation of olive oil and wine.

In this tour, we will look at the town itself and discover the reasons why Fazana is such a favourite choice of people throughout Europe and beyond. We will also look at the choice of beaches so that you get a complete picture of what you can expect if you choose to visit Fazana.
Fazana is a resort growing in popularity each year because it has all the ingredients for making a memorable holiday.
It is a small fishing town that retains its historical charm and generates an ambiance and an intimacy loved by so many visitors.
It is surrounded by lovely award-winning beaches and, like all Istrian resorts, it enjoys the warm and crystal-clear waters of the Adriatic sea, with safe and enjoyable bathing in our lovely climate.
Fazana Beaches – all about the local beaches of Fazana
The beaches of Fazana stretch out from both sides of the town and are within easy walking distance. A pathway, called the Riva, follows the shoreline in both directions from the town.
Heading north, past the market and right next to the town is Beach Stara which is a pebble cove, just over 300 metres long. This is a very nice and clean beach with safe bathing, ideal for families to enjoy.

At Beach Stara, you can hire beach furniture like loungers, parasols, and deck chairs. The Beach Bar, Chupacabra, is immediately next to the beach and provides refreshments and light snacks.
Further along is a small aquapark for the children to enjoy.
Fazana Beach
On the other side of town, heading out by the shoreline on the Riva, you will go through a small wooded park before you arrive at Fazana beach. Walking through this tree-lined park is very pleasant and within it there is a children’s play area. Families often congregate here, seeking the shade from under the trees at the hottest part of the day. There is also a restaurant within the park with a wide-ranging menu of hot meals and refreshments.
On leaving the park, you arrive at Fazana beach. This is a pebble beach with a grassed area on the other side of the Riva from the shore, which offers a nice alternative to the beach if you prefer.
There are two beach bars along this stretch of Fazana beach. There is Coco beach bar right next to the beach, offering drinks and ice creams. It also has an upper deck which gives you a really nice view along the beach and across to Brijuni island. Coco beach bar has a covered seating area and even has seating on the actual beach which is very pleasant.
On the other side of the Riva and just 20 meters away is Shark beach bar which offers all kinds of refreshments and light snacks. Again, you have a large seating area where you can relax and enjoy viewing the beach activities with your drink.
Next to the Shark beach bar is a beach volleyball court for public use, and if you wish, you can walk further along the waterfront and discover aqua parks and even more bars and restaurants.
Fazana Town
Fazana Town – A captivating town with a lovely and unique atmosphere
So now let’s head back to the town and see why Fazana delivers a lovely and comprehensive holiday destination for all its visitors.
Fazana is a lovely example of a picturesque Istrian town and like many Istrian towns, its cultures and architecture have been shaped from its historical past.
Whilst it is still a fishing port, the influence of tourism is plain to see, with many lovely restaurants and coffee houses taking prominent spots on the harbour front.
The layout of the harbour lends itself to being a natural viewing gallery for visitors. A walk to the opposite side will reward you with a panoramic view of the town’s seafront, and from which you can see the comings and goings of fishing, leisure, and excursion boats. It also gives you a slightly closer and uninterrupted view of Brijuni island.
At the end of the main square is the clock tower and the fifteenth-century church of saint Cosmos and saint Damian, which form a lovely focal point for the town.
As you go further into the town, you will come across stone-paved and narrow streets and a few more restaurants, which generally tend to be less busy than those on the seafront, but their intimacy is the attraction.
Visitors to the town are attracted to wandering these streets and discovering the unique ambiance Fazana has to offer and the occasional shops selling local produce and crafts.
Evenings in Fazana
Fazana town transforms itself in the evenings, to a romantic place where families and couples, young and old, can enjoy the warm summer atmosphere, filled with the smells of restaurants offering a variety of foods with local and international cuisine.
In the evening, gone are the swimming costumes as it is the time when people like to dress for a leisurely meal followed by a stroll along the promenade and harbour front.
The town makes every effort to make its visitors welcome and regular entertainment of one form or another is all part of the experience you can expect. The main square is the perfect platform from which to present live shows, plus craft demonstrations and specialist markets displaying and selling local produce, often unique to this area.
But the entertainment is not always restricted to the main square. You can often come across traditional dancing and music in other parts of the town which all adds to the entertainment value of evenings in Fazana.
